This video shows how to disassemble the Nikon SB-600 bounce to replace the Flash Bulb which needs to be removed with a soldering iron.

This video is rated 5/5 stars for difficulty because it requires close attention to the details and the process as well as the use of specialty tools (soldering iron).

Caution:

* You MUST discharge the Capacitor which is the the size of a “D” battery, located in the swivel part of the flash. It is very powerful and can hurt you, and will also damage the circuits if you try to remove the bulb without discharging first.

*DO NOT touch the resistor you use to discharge the capacitor, if it’s not rated high enough it will burst but either way it will get VERY HOT.

* Take extra care not to touch or bend the zoom brushes located under the lighting unit.

*Do not touch the bulb with your fingers. Like any high powered bulb, oils from your skin can cause the bulb to shatter during use.

Tools required are a small Phillips head screwdriver (size 0 or 00), small Flat head screwdriver, pointed pry tool, needle nose pliers, a soldering iron and about a 20K resistor.
